The Capital, Without the Compromise
A capital city that has never quite decided to become one, and is more interesting for it.

Port Vila
The Character
Port Vila sits on the island of Efate, wrapped around a natural harbour that has welcomed vessels for generations. It is Vanuatu's economic and cultural centre, home to the Vanuatu National Museum and Efate's deepest concentration of Melanesian and colonial-era history and yet it remains a genuinely modest capital, unhurried in a way few Pacific port cities still are.
For arriving vessels, Port Vila is the natural first port of call: the primary point of customs clearance, the best-provisioned harbour in the country, and the base from which the rest of Vanuatu opens up.
Fiji is where the Pacific perfected hospitality. Vanuatu is where the Pacific never stopped being itself.
Palm-fringed horizons whisper the promise of paradise.

Why It Matters to a Voyage
- Vanuatu's primary port of entry, with the country's most complete clearance, provisioning and technical infrastructure
- Home base for fuel, bunkering, specialist provisioning and marine engineering support
- A genuine harbour town: markets, museum, waterfront dining, rather than a purpose-built marina precinct
- International and domestic airport and the main hub for all flights
- The natural staging point for excursions across Efate and onward to the outer islands
Vanuatu is not simply seen—it is felt. Every horizon, every breeze, every tide speaks of wonder waiting to be explored.

Port Vila
What Sets the Tone
Guests arriving expecting a generic tropical capital tend to be quietly surprised by Port Vila, a produce market that runs on village supply rather than import schedules, a waterfront that still feels like a working harbour, and an ease of movement between formality and reef that most Pacific capitals lost decades ago. It is here that a Vanuatu voyage properly begins.
